After reading the only review posted, I felt obligated to post another perspective. I am a senior citizen who has met with the same seniors for over 15 years. We selected this book and are studying it at this time. To call it liberal is a possible point of view. To call it a book that inspires conversation is another perspective. We have remarked how much we are interested in thinking about Jesus's words from a different point of view... even as He may have meant to say it 2000 years ago. Before you cast it aside.... It's an interesting and thought provoking study book about the Beatitudes.
I thought this book was very good at giving background explanations of many terms in their original languages. It gives the English printed word a fullness that only an ancient language gives. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read something that instructs and deepens one's understanding of the words of Jesus.
This is written in such an interesting way with such down to earth examples. It is a very interesting read.

I got this very quick! I enjoy buying items from and hate that there has been negative feedback regarding reviews!
When I got In Living Color The Beatitudes, I expected to receive strength from an in-depth look at the words Christ used in His Sermon on the Mount. I typically delve into word studies to gain a greater understanding of Bible passages. While I did receive a greater perception of the historical context, the literary concentration undermined the power of Jesus' words to enable us to live triumphantly as His followers in this day and age.
