Lacy Steele wants no part of her sister's upcoming wedding. Just when she thinks she's in the clear, her mother informs her that she has to throw a bridal shower, and it had better be good. Before that can happen, Lacy has to have her wisdom teeth removed. With everyone else busy, it's up to Jason to keep an eye on Lacy during her recovery, but he's in for more than he bargained for.

While trying to rein in his delusional, hallucinating girlfriend, Jason must also solve a murder, and when all clues point to Lacy as his prime suspect, he'll go to lengths he never imagined to clear her name.

Wedding Day of Murder A Lacy Steele Mystery Book 6 edition by Vanessa Gray Bartal Rebecca Tocheff Literature Fiction eBooks

Vanessa Gray Bartal's Wedding Day of Murder is the 6th of the Lacy Steele series, and I have been a fan of this series since the first one. So I guess, needless to say, I enjoyed this one as well. With the continued sibling rivalry between Lacy and her sister, not to mention between Lacy and her mother, its not surprising that Lacy wants nothing to do with Riley's wedding. But, of course, it is her duty as sister to throw the bridal shower and it better be everything her mother expects it to be. The problem is that Lacy has to get her wisdom teeth extracted, and she has a very odd reaction to the anesthesia. Despite Jason's best efforts to take care of her, she wanders off and then the search is on. But then it looks like in her delusional state she might have killed somebody, and Jason fights his need to be letter of the law and his love for Lacy. He discovers that he'll do anything, including working with his up-til-now hated Michael. The conflicts and loyalties, some misplaced, and Lacy's penchant for finding trouble make this latest an enjoyable read. There are multiple twists and turns and the plot is well developed with a somewhat unexpected ending, as well as few loose ends (Michael for one), to keep readers coming back.

With many mystery series, one of the questions that comes up is whether each is truly a stand-alone. You could probably read this one as a stand-alone, but you will be missing a lot of the history of the various characters, not only of Lacy and Jason, but of Lacy's college friends, the sibling rivalry, and just so much!

Wedding Day of Murder A Lacy Steele Mystery Book 6 edition by Vanessa Gray Bartal Rebecca Tocheff Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I pretty much agree that these plots are going down hill - the series is well written but if that woman was my mother there's no way I'd put up w/that crap - actually not from anyone. And Lacy wandering around/being kidnapped like a delusioinal idiot doesn't resonate w/reality. I'd like to see a little more maturity in Lacy - she acts like a OCD food junkie and her sister acts like someone who needs to be slapped. No one could possibly be as clumsy as Lacy is portrayed - things are deteriorating into fantasy IMO...sorry to say this cause it was interesting to start with.... but it's becoming totally not believable sad to say!
This is book #6 in an absolutely wonderful series. So far this one is my most favorite! Lacey's reactions to medication after having her wisdom teeth pulled are so hysterical - I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes! Jason is a phenomenal boyfriend. However, I just want to slap Lacey's mom upside the head. I'm not sure she has one redeeming quality. I can't wait for her to return to Florida.

While also included in this story, Tosh, Riley, & Lucinda & Mr. Middleton are secondary characters. Book 6 mainly revolves around Lacey & Jason's growing relationship, with Michael thrown in for extra suspense. The ending was quite a surprise! I never guessed the murderer!

I highly encourage you to read this entire series. I can't wait for the next installment!
Only after reading a bit did I remember having read some of the earlier entries in the series. The quality varies but, as a whole, they have all been pleasant, if not exciting, reading. This is the same. The plot as a whole and the central premise for important behavior of the heroine, in particular, are weak. Even in small towns, today, the constraint of the heroine and her "boyfriend" in their relationship is more than a little puzzling. Those unfamiliar with (or unable to remember) character building in previous books may be a little puzzled at the people and relationships in this one. Nonetheless, at a reasonable price, the ebook should be modestly entertaining. Those with a need for logic and fair play with readers in trying to figure out 'who dun it' will not be happy here.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS!

This has been a favorite series of mine. I was eagerly anticipating this next installment. I even reread the last two books in the series before I started this one. They were both as wonderful as I remembered and I couldn’t wait to get into this one.
It was a slow dreary start . The mother was so unbelievably grating. Her insistence that Riley have a wedding when the woman was already married and pregnant was annoying. The fact that NO-ONE is willing to stand up to this waste of humanity was beyond obnoxious. I honestly had to put the book down every single time Frannie appeared on the scene. Then there was a bunch of silliness ( I think the intention was supposed to be humorous) with Lacy having hallucinations due to her pain meds. I didn’t find any of that nonsense funny , it was just cartoonish and silly. The idea that Lacy would be allowed to roam willy nilly around the hospital was stupid. They would restrain a patient for their own safety.
The murder wasn’t interesting in the least, there was no real mystery to this story. In fact the reveal at the end was really disappointing.
This book was a huge disappointment, I think the author has gone as far as she can with the characters and should just marry off Lacy and Jason and go for a happy ever after ending.
I have read, and enjoyed, the previous 5 Lacy Steele mysteries. But this one - what a MESS!!!!!

Several things stand out

Ms. Bartal should not assume that her reader has read the previous books and knows the "back story" for the main characters. A little background is required to understand the family dynamics.

Which leads me to the family dynamics. I am SO tired of reading about Lacy's clumsiness & quirks, how she's such a failure as a daughter, and how Lacy's sister is so "special". And I agree with a previous reviewer who complained about Lacy's love interest's (I can't even remember his name after books!) OCD

Finally, and most egregious, is the fact that I never understood the motivation behind the "perp". Plus, other characters' presence is never explained. Why are they in town in the first place?
